Mr. Journalist: Why are you furious, young man?
Youngman: I like Bhagat Singh - a great revolutionary, but now I think why he fought for the freedom of this country.
Mr. Journalist: Because every country should be a free country where every person has a right for free development..
Youngman: But India was better under British rule.
Mr. Journalist: You are a young IT professional, born in a free country. I am really surprised at your attitude.
Youngman: I work day and night with dedication, and sincerity. I don’t break any law. Still the leaders and the court of this country have made my honest work illegal. I can’t work at my own home, while the whole world is joining “work at home” revolution to generate more employment opportunities.
Mr. Journalist: As commercial activities are no more allowed from residential areas why don’t you shift to a commercial complex?
Youngman: First I can’t afford the expenses there. Second, the atmosphere won’t suit my creativity. Third, who will take care of our children at home? My wife has to go out to earn. Now she too has to leave her job because her small office also operates from a residential area. Both of us will soon be on the road. Then we have to leave this home too. Our two small children have to live the life of orphans.
Mr. Journalist: I can understand your predicament young man. But....
Youngman: My question from the honourable Supreme Court is, if our leaders are unable to make good laws why the court can’t use wisdom while implementing them. They are throwing millions of young men and women, and even their children, in the dark tunnel of starvation and frustration. Till now we had faith only in the honourable court of this country. Where is hope for us now?
Mr. Journalist: But the administration and honourable court is trying to create some social order. Commercialisation of residential areas is creating chaos.
Youngman: But their orders will only worsen the situation. The problem can easily be solved by removing encroachment, and shifting only those commercial units which are creating disturbance in the society. Ruled by foolish people this country is not for us. Now corrupt persons in civic agencies, police and beaurucracy have tasted new blood. The number one corrupt country of the world is going to double its corruption power.
Mr. Journalist: But hope should always be there. Young persons like you are the future of this great country.
Youngman: I want leaders like Bhagat Singh or Subhash Chandra Bose who can lead the angered young men and women to build a better society having justice for all. But nobody is there like them. I have no option but to join either mafia or a terrorist group. At least they will provide ventilation to my anger and frustration.
Mr. Journalist: Think again when the wave of your angry outburst passes. Instead of opting for a violent path you can use the powerful ideology of Mahatma Gandhi, his most powerful weapon "Satyagrah" (peaceful protest).
Youngman: People have been doing it for the last one year in Delhi but they are still sealing our fate? The very people who say themselves true followers of Mahatma Gandhi. That great man propagated cottage industry; work at each home with ‘Charkha’. Now his followers are trampling the soul of Father of the Nation. And you press people too are against us. You are calling us illegal in every news item. The press of the British rule was braver than the press of this free country. You too are sold to mall-culture and money-power........
Before I could speak further and try to cool the anger of that young man he left fuming. I think the government and the law must understand the pain of the law-abiding citizens and must take into notice their constitutionnal rights:1. freedom of express, 2. social justice, and 3. economic justice; before it is too late.
(Based on true interaction with a frustrated young man of New Delhi).
