Because even the criminals don't get such a harsh treatment in a civilized society. Mind-boggling three million people in Delhi alone are at the door of starvation and media is still not serious enough to highlight the biggest social strategy happening first time in India after independence.
Both national and international press are really confusing the people by calling the sealed traders and professionals again and again 'illegal'. An impression is being made by a large section of the media like they are involved in illegal activities. The letters to the editors and comments to the articles clearly indicate that media reports are misleading. Most of these traders and professionals are law-abiding citizens who are paying taxes, and most of them are operating from approved residential colonies.
It is really shocking to see that most of the journalists in Indian Press, that weep even at the molestation of a women, have adopted a very strange and merciless attitude over inhuman and barbaric sealing drive In Delhi.
It is clearly written in the constitution that any law that goes against social, economic and moral justice to the people should be treated as 'void'. If honorable court or law falters it is the duty of the press to raise the issue for the welfare of the people and the country.
When Mahatma Gandhi stood boldly against anti-people or wrong laws what is the problem with today's very powerful press or media. It is healthy for a democracy to debate in press on every barbaric law.
It is probably the first time in the history of Indian media that it has lost track. If about three million people are going to be affected by the present sealing drive directly there are about 95% who directly or indirectly depends on these traders and professionals. Laws are made to provide protection to people, never to ruin them.
Why are press and the media people mercilessly ignoring gross human rights violation? Why are they blind to dozens of grave problems this drive will throw on the face of the people? And you will not be able to solve those problems even in next hundred years. The press need to change its perspective and must understand that the court, the politicians and the public servants are there to serve the people not to seal their employment or fate. Press need to adopt this policy: Seal encroachment, seal corruption but for God's sake don't seal self-employment or jobs.
