Treat yourself to some time out

The other day I was privy to something quite surprising and rather insightful; it was during a coffee break at work when I was relaxing with my brew, that I overheard a few colleagues engaging in one of those usual coffee break/have a grumble/get back to work sessions and it was at that instant when the moment of insight came. I realised that almost all of us follow this routine to some extent, often complaining of being tired and overworked…but then just carrying on without ever doing anything about it. It was then that I decided that I would look into what could be done…and go and do it.
Now my criterion were that the solution had to be short (most people can get two or three days off without difficulty), it had to be easy and convenient to book and lastly, it had to be value for money…it was then that I discovered the vast range of Short Breaks that were available on the internet…and that event marked the end of my search.
Looking at the short breaks available, I was struck by how well they corresponded with my check list: all the short breaks that I found were bookable from between one and seven nights; they were all bookable immediately on the internet and most of all, all of the short breaks offered excellent value for money.
So onwards to the next step…booking a short break for myself.
Scanning the choice of short breaks available, my eye was instantly drawn to an offer of accommodation for three nights in Rome all for under £30 per night: well that swung it…I booked the accommodation straightaway and got an instant confirmation, I did likewise with my flight (I got a particularly good bargain with BA) and that was that; my short break was booked and I had done something to remedy what my colleagues were whinging about; the need for an occasional break.
So how did it go?
It was fabulous; my hotel was set within the magnificent greenery of a landscaped park next to Vatican City; the centre of Rome was just under 2 miles away and easily accessible by bus or underground and it was every bit as splendid as I imagined it might be. Best of all though, my short break in Rome had left me happy, relaxed and totally de-stressed…unlike those colleagues that I had left behind!
