How would it have been without the great thinkers, without those who spent their life time investigating and researching on things that could affect humanity. They have immensely brought ease to everything all human endeavors. Not only that, they have also changed the mindset of humans concerning some wrong beliefs and ideologies which have been in existence for centuries and in a way were adapted as traditions. Some of these great people that brought light into our world were treated with disdain, discrimination, torture, and many times abused of their fundamental human rights by the society.
A very good example is Galileo Galilee who was subjected to torture and imprisonment because of his theories about the shape and movement of the earth which contradicts the belief of the church. He said the earth is an orange like shape (spherical) and rotates round the sun. Until he came with his findings, majority of the people in the world use to belief that the earth was flat i.e. a table like shape, and was in a fix point whereby the sun rotates round it. Another great thinker was Frank Lloyd Wright, who really changed the look of things in architecture in America. He was able to establish the fact that form should follow function. He thought of structures as an integral part of an organic whole, which includes Land, the community and the society. He is well remembered for the Larking Building which still stands elegantly in Buffalo New York, the Johnson Wax Building in Racine Wisconsin and a host of others. His ideas and concept were taken to other parts of the world which in turn added beauty to the state of architecture. Some other great thinkers that have affected our world with their great inventions are: Jolann Gutenberg (the printing press), Christian Huygens (the modern clock), Comtede Sivrac (bicycle), Michael Faraday (electricity), Orville and Wilbur Wright (aero plane) etc.
All their inventions came to life through hard work, thinking and relentless efforts. Although, humanity can be proud of so many inventions and some other achievements, if the brain is highly maximized (research has it that humans utilize a very few percentage of the brain) and every humans starts thinking of how to invent things and put light to the darkness of humanity, the world would be a better place to live in.
