How to be Pure like God

According to Hindu mythology after evolving through 8,400,000 births we are able to have the life of a human being. The life which we get after such a long wait is considered to be very precious. What is the aim of this life?
According to the famous religious conception the aim of this life is to merge into that almighty God so that we never come back to this materialistic world. God is very pure and in order to merge into him we have to be as pure as he is.
After coming into this materialistic world we get impure and for getting ourselves pure we use different ways. We chant the name of God. Most of us run to shrines to flatter God to help us to be pure while a few indulge themselves in religious rituals. But all these exercises are useless.
We can never be expected to be pure till we get rid of the dirty feelings of hatred, jealously, proud, greed, lust and so on. We go to shrine but continue thinking ill of others. We indulge in religious rituals but are unable to control materialistic desires. We chant God’s name but want to escape from our duty of serving the needy. We claim to love God but hate his creation the human being. We desire to have God’s mercy but kill the animals ruthlessly
With so many flaws how can a human being even imagine merging into that God?
