Vertical blinds are a great way to decorate glass doors and tall windows. Unlike regular blinds, vertical blinds are designed to encompass the length of a window or glass door. Compared to regular blinds, vertical blinds are considerably longer in length and are almost exclusively made from fabric. Most vertical blinds are easy to manage and are a composite of fabric strips that are connected with each other using a ‘clip on’ technique. A typical vertical blind consists of a top hanger with fabric strips clipped on to the top hanger.
Since all fabric strips are clipped on to the top hanger, the lighting in a room can be easily adjusted by managing the vertical blind through the top hanger. When compared to curtains, vertical blinds are far more cost effective and are available in a variety of designs and colours. In fact, vertical blinds are ideal for patio doors and tall windows where direct sunlight can be used to create an ambient effect.
Instead of completely blocking out sunlight, vertical blinds can modulate sunlight to allow as little or as much light as one desires. Unlike curtains, vertical blinds do not absorb heat as effectively and help heat up a room naturally while regulating only incoming light.
Although, different websites have different classifications for vertical blinds, vertical blinds are divided into two categories depending on the quality of fabric:
Finesse Vertical Blinds
Finesse vertical blinds are made from high quality fabric and are usually designed to compliment ‘upscale’ décor. Like all vertical blinds, the width and fall of finesse vertical blinds can be easily adjusted. What differentiates finesse vertical blinds from value vertical blinds is the quality of the fabric used. The fabric used in finesse vertical blinds is usually thicker than value vertical blinds and is considered ideal for ‘upscale’ homes and ‘high end’ interior décor.
Value Vertical Blinds
As the name suggest, value vertical blinds are usually cheaper than finesse vertical blinds and are made using lighter fabric. Contrary to popular belief, value vertical blinds are in no way inferior to finesse vertical blinds. Value vertical blinds are made from lighter and cheaper fabric but are by no means inferior in make and are built to last. Value vertical blinds are ideal for people that do not want to spend money on curtains or finesse vertical blinds but at the same time do not want to compromise on the quality of the vertical blinds they buy.
In conclusion, vertical blinds are ideal for people that want to regulate the amount of sunlight that enters their room without compromising on their privacy. Unlike curtains, vertical blinds can be adjusted to allow sunlight while maintaining a high degree of privacy. In fact, this is why beach houses all over the world have vertical blinds instead of curtains (as they are ideal for people that enjoy the sun but want to maintain their privacy). Also, vertical blinds do not block out the sun’s heat as much as curtains do.
