Have you ever lost a file on the computer system? Working overnight on the presentation for your client, you save it and realizing the next morning that you have lost it. That’s creating panic on your mind; you can’t imagine what went wrong. It may happen that file system get corrupt unable to open that file. You get frustrated and want your file back anyhow.
There may be various reasons for the loss. The four basic reasons may be:
• Deletion: You might have accidentally deleted your files during disk cleanup, not realizing that you have deleted your important files from your system.
• Overwriting: You may have saved the file with the same name replacing the old one, thus overwriting your new file with the old file.
• File system corruption: It may happen that extension of the file has been changed or it corrupted so unable to open the file as the OS doesn’t recognize the file format.
• Viruses: It may have been affected by the viruses making it corrupt.
In each of the above cases there is fairly a good chance of data recovery, but before proceeding to any such recovery you should avoid certain things.
Thing you should avoid in case of lost files from your computer system.
• You should close all other important files which are opened, so that it doesn’t get affected.
• Unplug your system, do not shut down just unplug it from the main source of power so that the computer stops running.
• Do not use recovery disk, provided by the computer manufactures as it is not the file recovery solution.
• Do not run the file recovery software on the same drive as it is going to overwrite your data.
Now the next question is how you are going to recover those lost files. There are number of file recovery software which provides ecovery of data from accidental deletion, viruses, software malfunction or any other cases of file/directory deletion. Some data recovery software has developed specially for recovering from Microsoft Word, Excel, Access or Zip. There are other data recovery software only provide lost pictures and some provides only provides only deleted file recovery. You can choose any one of the software as per your need.
